Introduction
The crypto gaming sector is getting hotter by the week. As the sector gains more popularity, the chances of being first to the best projects are becoming less likely. If that isn’t bad enough, the chances of falling for scams have increased tenfold. It’s times like these where the support of a great community or guild really comes in handy. The community is the lifeblood of any project in crypto. This is especially true when it comes to NFT and crypto gaming projects. So much of the value is derived from these communities, that it is pretty much a requirement that you participate to get the full benefit of holding the assets.
As you all can tell from some of the most recent Deep Dives, we are hellbent on demystifying crypto gaming and bringing it to the masses. One of the best ways to achieve that is to build an informed community. So, it is not only my pleasure, but it is also my duty to share with you all the best crypto gaming guilds. Those of you who are new to the gaming world might not be familiar with what a gaming guild is. Allow me to explain below.
What Is A Gaming Guild?
In the gaming world, a gaming guild is a group of gamers that organize to play video games together and share data. Gaming guilds can also be known as clans, factions, or communities (obviously). “Guild” is the more common term.
Gaming guilds have been around for decades, but they’ve recently become more popular in the past few years with the rise of competitive gaming aka eSports.
In the traditional gaming world, you have gaming guilds such as FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, and Cloud9 that have amassed hundreds of millions of dollars through competitive gaming.
Some crypto gaming guilds aim to do the same through P2E gaming, while others aim to build strong communities that will produce the best alpha, and eventually the best projects.
Loot Squad
The first guild that we’ll discuss is Loot Squad. Founded by Brycent, Flowbot44, and BinaryAssets, Loot Squad is the gem of the Axie Infinity Universe. Outside of YGG (discussed later in this article), Loot Squad boasts the second biggest Discord group that is dedicated to Axie Infinity.
Loot Squad has become very popular for their Loot Squad Scholarship program. For those who are unfamiliar with Axie Infinity, there is a startup cost associated in order to participate in the gameplay.
If a player wants to initiate a battle, they must own at least three Axies. The cost of one Axie can range anywhere from .035 ETH - 300 ETH. So, the barrier to entry can be a little too steep for most people.
The scholarship program allows players to participate in the game without paying the ETH cost upfront (think of it as a sponsorship).
Loot Squad is not only limited to its scholarship program. They have other endeavors that they are involved in as well.
One of the main focuses of Loot Squad is building a close-knit community.

Neo Tokyo
This next entry is a completely unbiased take. I’m talking about Neo Tokyo. The growth and popularity of Neo Tokyo haven’t been anything less than astounding. What started out as an experiment, has become one of the best (if not the best) case studies of how to organically build a community of top contributors.
This community was founded by none other than our very own Elliot Wainman aka EllioTrades along with Alex Becker.
Both founders have methodically built their reputations as being the top metaverse and crypto gaming experts within this industry by making the early calls before anyone else.
Those that have been lucky enough to make it into the guild have been rewarded with NFTs, token airdrops ($BYTES), future land plots, and some of the best gaming and metaverse alpha you can find.
Neo Tokyo Identities NFTs currently sit at a floor price of over 14 ETH…making it one of the most successful NFTs in the market. Keep in mind that these NFTs were free to mint.
During the recent NFT market crash, not only did these NFTs hold their market value, they actually grew in price.
It is to be noted that when I say lucky enough to make it into the guild, I actually mean smart enough. Gaining access to Neo Tokyo is no easy task. It takes wit and a bit of ingenuity.
Participants must complete custom riddles and puzzles (usually gaming related or cyberpunk themed) to gain complete access to the community. The riddles are randomly released through the EllioTrades, Alex Becker, or Neo Tokyo News 5 Twitter accounts.

What Neo Tokyo has managed to pull off is nothing less than revolutionary. I’m sure that we will see plenty of new communities and guilds using this blueprint in the future.
Yield Guild Games (YGG)
Yield Guild Games was founded in 2020 by gaming veteran/Axie player Gabby Dizon. YGG is now the biggest guild in crypto gaming (over 74k members in the Discord). It’s also credited with being the pioneer of P2E gaming DAOs.
YGG is unique in the fact that it is made up of pretty much every other popular guild within the space. It is the self-proclaimed “Guild of Guilds”.
YGG also has huge institutional investors, which include Delphi Digital, a16z, and BITKRAFT to name a few. This has made it possible for the guild to be first to the party on some of the biggest crypto games in the industry.
YGG provides scholarships to aspiring players and also makes investments into other 3rd party guilds.
Those wanting to participate in the guild can either obtain a YGG Badge or become a taken holder (just joining the Discord and being will provide the casual investor or gamer with more than enough alpha). The token provides a few different utilities:
